This week’s installment of my look at anime CD’s released that interest me. My reviews shouldn’t be taken all that seriously as I am not a music major. If you like the anime you will probably like it’s music. Let’s get started.

I think it’s pretty noticeable that I’ve been fanboying over this show. It’s characters, plot, animation are all perfect, and this of course extends to it’s music. As expected for a show set in space the whole score has an epic orhcestral feel to it (of course this could be because many of the tracks feature an orchestra). Certain tracks are variations of eachother and just remixed through out. It adds a nice sense of continuity to the whole thing and it helps that the track itself is stellar, a sweeping piece with violins, trumpets, and piano. Included are also the Op Groovin Magic by ROUND TABLE feat. Nino (I’m really getting addicted to thier work) an awesome piece that goes with the psychadelic video, and the Ed Hoshikuzu Namida by ACKO.

Favorite Tracks:
Vansetto - a suspense piece with rapid violins to introduce the newest enemy.
Taitan Hendou Juuryoku Gen - a pounding piece with drums. Always perfect for getting the blood pumped for a new power up, like God Mode Nono.
Buster Machine 7 gou - The track I mention earlier, a sweeping epic piece
Ketsui - a simple track until the middle where guitar and drums kick in for a gritty melancholic tone until the end.
Tatsu Tori Ato wo Nigosa zu - another variation track, however this one is ass-kicking with guitars instead of the normal trumpet parts.

There’s something ironic in reading Bokurano while listening to this. If you don’t know what Bokurano is don’t worry. I’ll be reviewing it shortly. However if you do know what it is this CD is it’s exact opposite. Peaceful, soothing, and kind of fun, much like everything related to ARIA the ultimate feel good anime. This CD has the many vocal tracks related to the series, including Op’s and Ed’s to both series, Athena’s songs, and tracks by Chiwa Saito and Erino Hazuki, Aika and Akari respectively. So there’s not exactly anything here we haven’t heard before, just collected in one place. But of course part of being otaku is getting rehashes of things we already have, or in this case already heard.

Favorite Tracks:
Undine~Hikigatari~ - another remix of undine, a slower version with more piano if I’m correct, with distortion to make the voice more ethereal sounding. I love Makinio Yui’s voice. Alway’s relaxing.
Euforia~Hikigatari~ - same thing, just done to Natural Op.
Coccoro - an Athena song, this one from the awesome Alice episode. Kawai Eri has an excellent voice which really brings this song alive, which is good since there is very little background instruments, limited to bells and piano.
