For those of you who don’t check it that often, Anime News Service has dropped some interesting semi-licensing news announcements today.

Hardly the most relevant Haruhi pic I have, but still my favorite. Ryoko ftw!

Chief of interest to all otaku is the current licensing status of Haruhi. It seems people were more accurate in saying there was a bidding war instead of messing with the playboy bunny license, as ANS mentions several companies are interested in Haruhi, indirectly hinting at some kind of massive bidding war in the background. Though it’s interesting to note that it also mentions several companies interested in bringing both the novels and manga also, maybe as a package, maybe not. Some Haruhi novels would definately be nice for the fledgling light novel market I’ve taken an interest in. My best wish would be for Seven Sea’s to get the novels, since their Boogiepop translation is excellent, though they probably have too many title’s as it is. Second would be Viz, just because even if they haven’t released any novels yet (though Shana is out next year) I find their level of quality in manga more consistent than tokyopop. I should probably check out Kino no Tabi and Scrapped Princess soon. Though when I saw Scrapped Princess in Barnes & Nobles it seemed terribly thin, even by manga standards.

Weirdest Death Note pic danbooru had.

Anyway’s Death Note has been confirmed as licensed. It hasn’t been said as by who, but it’s most likely either Viz (since they have the manga) or Funimation, as they seem to get a lot of viz manga titles. I’ll expect it to probably air on Adult Swim sometime next year, as it seems like that kind of show.

Now I’m off to watch the awesomely addictive Heroes, followed by playing the equally addictive, if not more so, Tsukihime. How am I gonna watch any anime?
