The news running back and forth through the animesphere today is that Haruhi is licensed!…maybe. Right now the only support for this is this site with the Haruhiism logo and saying the world will end on the 22nd, presumably when the license is announced. Early speculation is banking on Funimation, evidenced by site code and other stuff I have no idea about. I strongly believe it is Funimation though, do to reading awhile ago that whoever was going to get the Haruhi license was probably getting the full package: anime, manga, books et al. Funimation has a very cozy relationship with Viz, who could easily handle the printed materials, and I’m sure Viz wouldn’t mind showcasing some Haruhi next to it’s new Shakugan no Shana books. Imagine, two Noizi Ito books in the same year!

And there’s more! Adding to this whirlwind of rumors, the official Haruhi TV site has gone down for the day. However it’s far from normal computer trouble. For one, I’m getting an IE 404 message, and I’m using Opera. Two, there’s a couple of sentences that say something akin to ” Use the keys. It starts two days after the final,” (roughly translated from 4chan). Apparently these lines are very important to the fourth Haruhi novel, The Disappearence of Suzumiya Haruhi, which a second season would mostly follow. Official announcement anyone? Of course this is all very speculative right now, but the one thing we can be assured of is a big Haruhi announcement in the coming week. God, don’t you just love viral marketing?

In other news, apparently I’ve been chosen at TIME’s Person of the Year. Woohoo, go me!
