Saigar Update: Group D Round 2
Why is it that the first half of the Superbowl is always more exciting than the second? You just knew it was over once the Colt’s got that interception and ran for the touchdown. And I was rooting for the bears too. Don’t ask me why, since this was the only professional football game I’ve watched all year.
Great Teacher Onizuka Eikichi applies some hard discipline to Nara Shikimaru and Freddie. I really need to watch/read GTO soon. Onizuka sounds like an incredibly gar teacher.
Nicholas D. Wolfwood sends Lelouch ” Lulu ” Lamperouge and Ray ” Hakuoro ” Romano to the heaven of gar. This proves my thesis that black suits and smoking are undeniably gar.
Looking to Round E, first it’s Gendo Ikari vs. Roy Focker vs. Nabeshin. /m/ will put it’s full vote behind Roy, but will /a/ do the same, or choose the great afro-wearin’ director as it’s champion? Then the other match is a true battle of champions. Father goes against son as Joseph Joestar and Kujo Jotaro face off. However, there’s also Spike Spiegel in the match. Could the split vote between Joseph and Kujo mean his victory? Nevermind the fact that he got more votes than the both of them in Round 1.

My votes will be for Nabeshin and Spike Speigel. I actually think Focker may be a bit more GAR than Nabeshin, but I can’t help but try to bring about a Round E title bout between Nabeshin vs Spike. We’ll call it the Battle for the Outfit. The only way it would be better is if Lupin III officiated in some way…

I think Spike is more likely to win due to Cowboy Bebop being more well-known compared to Jojo, so he’ll probably get votes from people who haven’t seen Jojo before. Or heard of it.
In addition to black suits and smoking, the odds one fights against also determine how GAR he is. Can’t really say much without spoilers, but Archer, Guts and Wolfwood fit that bill quite well.

If you can overcome the odds means you are suitably GAR, so there’s a correlation there between strength and garness.

Wait a minute… I just realized that Sanji from One Piece smokes and dresses in black too, but he didn’t make the cut. Guess that punches a hole in your thesis.

Well, their all going to lost to Archer, who doesn’t wear a suit either. I guess it should be redefined as suit+smoking/guts=garness.
