Hawtest. Teacher. Evar. Hidamari Sketch is proving to be an awesome show. It’s like a less insane Paniponi Dash. The comedy can be incredibly quirky, mostly when Miya is involved, but more down to earth and relies on the strength of the characters instead of random situations. I’m really liking the art style, too. Most of the time the detail is rather lacking, but the show uses real-life pictures to make up for this, creating an interesting mesh of art. I guess that fits a show about art students. Too bad this is another winter season show sufferering from lack-of-fansubsitis. At least Shintani are reliable and are releasing at a reasonable pace. And, once again, oh gawd Yoshinoy is hawt!

Yoshinoya-sensei is awesome–she pretty much burns with the hotness of a million blazing suns. Plus she has the same last name as the beefbowl chain, which is just a bonus.
Only part of the art style I don’t like is the SD parts, especially in episode 2 where it felt like the characters were SD more than drawn normally. Usually SD = cute, but in Hidamari the SD just looks…odd to me, kind of like the SD characters in the ending credits of Otoboku. But overall, I’m definitely enjoying this. Shinbou Akiyuki has an incredible record for me, I think I’ve liked every series he’s been involved in (Paniponi Dash, Tsukuyomi, Negima!?, and now Hidamari Sketch).

Did I just see the maid outfit from He is My Master back there? Cute.
