Gurren-Lagann 6 is made of Yoko fanservice, Gainax fanservice, QUALITY animation, and recap. I’m figuring the recap is there because censors wouldn’t let Gainax show ten minutes of Yoko naked (Come on DVD’s!). Fun episode, but fillerish. Which seems to be the problem with GL. It’s not a bad show per say, certainly the characters are awesome, but I just don’t like it that much. In terms of the mecha shows I’m watching now, Kotetsushin Jeeg blows it out of the water. I think it has to do with the fillerish plot, Gainax’s odd animation, and the incredibly ugly mecha designs. Seriously, the Gurren-Lagann looks like shit to me. But there’s one thing that can keep me coming back: Yoko!

Did you know that Yoko is only fourteen? That the girls from Lucky Stars are all older than her? Boggles the mind, doesn’t it? It’s like Gainax does the reverse of the whole industry. Instead of older girls looking loli (She’s eighteen, I swear!), theirs are young yet sexy. I can live with that. Oh, and Simon is fourteen, too. See why him and Yoko make the perfect pair?

Nono is loev.

Oh god, it’s Nono! And Lark and Asuka! And happy Rei! Why is Rei happy? Isn’t that one of the signs of the apocalypse? Also, serious lack of Noriko reference.

Yoko swears revenge. Bloody, violent revenge.

Jealous Yoko is awesome, especially while drunk. I wonder how much she cares about Kamina. Right now she seems more tsundere to him, but you know they’ll get close. Which will make it all the sadder when Kamina dies his manly death.

Gay French guy gets a mouthful, probably not literally, though. He enjoyed it anyways. I loved the bizarre hilarity of the episode where everyone basically ran around naked fighting. Personally, I’d be too busy staring at Yoko to put up much of a resistance at all.

Gomu Gomu no Whip!

QUALITY fighting animation. Is it just me, or is GL’s animation seem to be getting worse? Not in a “episode 4″ kind of way, but in a “We have no idea how much money we have,” kind of way. While Gainax’s unique brand of animation has always been kind of odd, it’s usually been high quality. GL is their first TV series in a couple years, though, so I guess they have to spread the budget more.

Yoko kicks furry ass. Furries as enemies seems to be appropiate. Who doesn’t want to kill them?

Penis Beam!

Manliness reaches a new level of stupidity/awesomeness.

Best part of the episode. Yoko’s breasts are so perfect, they’re holy. I bet they can cure the sick, end poverty, hunger, bring world peace, and raise the dead. They can even animate inanimate objects. Just look at GL getting an eyefull!

Badassery returns. It’s funny how close Viral sounds to Gai Shishio. They’re the same VA, but the guy usually doesn’t sound that similar. Definately need an evil Final Fusion or something like that. If StrikerS can have like ten references to Gaogaigar in an episode, then GL can have at least one.
