She is in the group shot at the end of the opening, in the slot where Kamina was. Interestingly enough, in the prologue the grown-up Simon also says, as he orders the attack in space, "Who do you suppose I am?" Will this be in memory of Nia, or is Nia leading the enemy. It's also very interesting to watch the prologue again very carefully - the madness that Simon shows in episode 9 is there in the prologue. I'm beginning to suspect that Gainax deliberately "lulled" us into expecting Gurren Lagann to be a kid's adventure series, and it will instead continue with the serious story that we've seen in episodes 8 and 9.
