Gio, Did you change your hair?

Yes, Gio comes back at the end of this episode as the next BIG BAD GUY, the evil aura lets us know this, which apparently entails a wardrobe change and a perm. At least he’s not wearing a thong on his forehead.

vlcsnap-225648.jpg

Speaking of which, that’s the most pathetic scar ever. I can hardly even see the thing. Does that really require all the cover up? And Kazuki gets beaten down by Gio, again. This show is really going in circles. I just want a finale with a lot of explosions to satisfy me now. And to explain what the hell creepy little girl/Raum has been doing this whole time. Probably a little too much to ask actually.

Saigar Update: Group F Round 3

Jeremiah (Orange) Gottwald of Code Geass (387) defeats Simon of Gurren Lagann (316). Yeah, that doesn’t feel right at all. The graph for the fight looks even more messed up. No matter how much people like Orange, I have a hard time seeing Simon legitimately losing to him. Saigar really is meaningless now, not that it had that much meaning in the first place I guess.

For Group G it’s Medicine Seller vs. Lelouch Lamperouge. Probably Lelouch here cause he’s insanely popular, but the unexpected seems to be happening a lot.

Magical Girl Otoha: Defeating Evil One Farm Subsidy at a Time!

Would hate to see what the dad looks like.

vlcsnap-367218.jpg
But sisters are still sisters, right? Especially if you can sleep with them.

I think this is the weirdest non-SZS anime episode I’ve ever seen. There’s eroge parodies, magical girl Otoha, Miku Yui, various SD shenanigans, and a cross-dressing uncle *shudder*. It was all pretty funny, though, especially all the blatant poking fun at eroge cliche’s. I would have to say the farming is also probably the weirdest concept for a magical girl, though apparently not weird enough to make an actual OP for. Takuma realizing how screwed up everything was and being forced to change it was great, too. You never expect him to get violent, so when he does you can’t help but root for. I wish he really did beat up those bullies back then, but at least he’s strong enough to beat them up now.

vlcsnap-367712.jpg

Hamaji has the line of the episode. Line of the show even. Hell, line of the season probably.

vlcsnap-368147.jpg

The last bit of the episode did get serious, showing that everything was just a test for Takuma by Otoha to see if he was strong enough to handle things on his own. Satisfied that she can be at rest now, Otoha disappears from the world. A touching moment overall, not too sad since we haven’t that much of Otoha, but much more creative than her disappearing without doing anything. I have an idea of where the show will head from here based on spoilers, but I really want to see the next episode. Which is odd for me since I usually don’t like this kind of show that much, but there’s something about H2O that makes me just like it. I think I’ll talk about that more when the show’s actually done.

I wonder if this is the first instance of a Hatsune Miku parody in anime, or has SZS snagged that honor already?

Saigar Update: Group E Round 3

Giovanni of Pokemon (395) beats Kittan of TTGL (295) with an even 100 votes. TTGL characters really aren’t doing so well now, mostly because of all the hate that TTGL gets these days, which still makes no sense. It’s anyone’s guess as to how long the meme status of Giovanni will carry him.
Tomorrow it’s Jeremiah vs. Simon. Will Simon befall the fate of his comrades, despite his positive popularity? We shall see.

Saigar Update: Group D Round 3 aka. A Hero Has Fallen

Farewell, my friends.

Lord Genome of TTGL (395) has defeated Kamina of TTGL (350). I need to take a cue from this year’s presidential race and stop declaring things inevitable. Kamina losing is as bad as Archer losing, but even Archer got farther. Genome is fine and everything, but there’s only one Kamina, only one man that GAR. It’s anybodies game from here.

For Group E it’s Kittan vs. Giovanni. Kittan has a chance to avenge his fallen comrade, but Giovanni has proven a strong force aka. meme in this tournament. Again, anything can happen.

Parodies I like to see in Sayonara Zetsubou sensei: Ultraman, End of Eva, G Gundam, and Giant Robo. The first part of this episode is the best segment since the kamen rider parody of episode 1. So many great references that were actually funny, like Chiri’s random counting in german. That was a great recreation of Asuka’s awesome fight, without the berserk MAMA RAGE of course. The aliens were also fun, especially when they were obsessed with how…

AMAZINGLY FREAKINGLY HAWT KOMORI IS! That’s just, the voice!…damn. Anyways, moving on. It’d be great to see a semi-serious mecha show from Shaft. If they can give me a serious melodrama like ef, then I know they could do a good robot story. Hell, this episode is plot enough. But you know what would be even better than a Shaft mecha show? More subs!
