Mirrormoon releases the Fate/stay Night Unlimited Blade Works patch. Never thought I’d see the day. Know what I’m doing over spring break now.

News came out today that Tokyopop is going to release both Otsu-ichi’s novel Goth and the manga adaption of it; the manga being noticeable for having art by Welcome to the NHK artist Kendi Oiwa. I’ve already read the Goth manga, and despite how cliche the title sounds it is one solidly awesome story, featuring a boy and a girl hunting serial killers with the added twist of the boy being a sociopath himself. After reading Otsu-ichi’s other novel, Calling You, I can’t wait to read this novel and see how it compares to the manga, along with enjoying another one of his works in English. Otsu-ichi is definitely one of the better light novel authors getting translated right now, and deserves more credit and attention for his great works. Right now it looks like the manga will come out in September and the novel in October. I’ll be sure to pick them both up then.
P.S. Later this month the first novels of Seven Seas light novel line are coming out, and it’s interesting to see that while there is a roughly a seven month turnaround time between Tokyopop’s novel announcements and their publications, it’s taken Seven Seas TWO FREAKIN’ YEARS to get anything out. Just felt like pointing that out.
So Tokyopop reported at NYAF that they have licensed the FSN manga to publish sometime next year. Hopefully it will be easier to find than the Tsukihime manga. Curse my Barnes & Nobles. The manga is pretty cool since it follows the Unlimited Blade Works scenario and isn’t a carbon copy of the anime, so it should be fun to read. On another Tokyopop note the Scrapped Princess novels may or may not have been postponed indefinitely. No one official has really confirmed that. On the one hand I don’t really care enough about SP to worry if it’s canceled, though it does make me worry about other novel lines, particularly Kino no Tabi because it’s taking them so damn long to release it. Only time will tell, though.
Del Rey has announced at their NYAF panel that they have licensed the manga version of Gankutsuou done by Mahiro Maeda. I think this is the best manga licensing I’ve heard of all year. I’ve been waiting ever since the anime first came out to read the manga version of Gankutsuou, one because it’s a wonderful story in any format, and two the manga was apparently even darker than the anime. This is why Del Rey is my favorite manga company. Hopefully I’ll see this on shelves real soon. Del Rey also has the first novel of the Zaregoto series, Kubikiri Cycle, by Nisioisin. Looks to be a good bit of originality into the light novel market.
JAM Project will be doing their own version of Motekke! Sailor Fuku. The Masters of all that is MANLY and HOTBLOODED in music will be singing that moe-pop crap. Something is dreadfully wrong with this. Yet I will still listen to it, but weep at the loss of all that is good in the world. Originally read about here from Anime Banzai.
And sorry for not posting anything in five days. It’s the longest unplanned break for me in a long time. Blame a bad mix of personal responsibilities, school, and just a lack of enthusiasm for blogging in general. I’ll try to get back into a normal pattern this week.
Tentatively known as either Kamen Rider Blood/Vlad or Kiba, depending on whose translation you follow. Show will have a horror theme with this Kamen Rider rumored to get a vampire form, werewolf form, fishman form, and I think a frankenstein form. What little we can see of the design now looks awesome to me. Way better than Den-O’s boxy suits and clunky designs. You just know the chain leg is going to make for an awesome Rider Kick. Here’s another pic; not as detailed, but I like the posing.
