That is NOT a Normal Sibling Relationship!

I think Impz would like this one.

So I finally decided to get caught up on Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo, and was watching ep. 3 when BAM! Out of nowhere Mamoru’s loli sister just appears naked. Ok, not completely naked, but just in panties and a towel. Mamoru then proceeds to have a completely normal conversation like nothing is wrong. How messed up do things have to be where your completely used to talking to your almost-naked little sister? I’m starting to wonder where otaku get this whole ” loli-sisters are awesome ” idea from. I follow Sasahara from Genshiken’s viewpoint, that real little sisters are terrible. Some of the horror stories I’ve heard from friends are just frightening. Nothing moe about that. Moving on, I’m actually really enjoying Mamoru so far, but I just had to mention this, just for the whole wtf moment it was. What I’m really liking about Mamoru so far is:

Dress gloves are suitable for any tsundere.

Ayako is one hawt tsundere. Seriously, she’s the most perfect tsundere since Tohsaka Rin. Her megadere moments are incredibly cute, and her badass tsun-tsun side is just hilarious and deliciously sexy. I relish those moments where she beats down the student council group. You have to wonder if there’s something wrong with their minds to want to provoke Ayako so much? That brings me to my next point:

Note that their playing hide-and-seek, which doesn’t quite work when Ayako keeps saying, ” You haven’t found me ” when someone finds her. Those damn tsundere mind-tricks.

The absurd level of cartoon violence in this show. I keep thinking of those old looney tunes shows, even though they and this are nothing alike, and how Ayako can punch, kick, maim, destroy, explode, or cause hell on earth for anyone and they don’t get hurt at all. Or at least minimally. There’s something very fun in just watching random violence like that. My favorite moment so far was when Ayako was infiltrating the Student Council’s second base. The President said the walls were way too thick for Ayako to penetrate, but then she appears behind him from nowhere and knocks him straight through the wall! Needless to say, I quite enjoyed that.

But Mamoru isn’t just tsundere’s and violence, it’s also a pretty refreshing love story. The development of Ayako’s and Mamoru’s relationship goes at it’s own pace, despite the dealings of the student council. Though Ayako and Mamoru are both too shy around eachother, there’s something very natural in how they act. It’s a nice change of pace from the emotionally charged, get through every heroine as fast as possible feeling of eroge adaptations. It’s somewhat like Honey & Clover, but lighter and just focusing on one relationship. Of course we know their gonna be together, but sometimes the development of a romance, not the climax, can be fun to watch. I hope Mamoru can continue this fun mixture of romance and violence. Now, how about some more subs?

Impressions: Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo

Finally the subs are here! Ok I wasn’t exactly looking forward to Mamoru-kun ni Megami no Shukufuku wo! (damn long name. From here on it’s Megadere after the awesome site name) like I was Kanon or Bartender, but still I like the character designs and tsundere’s. The first episode delivered with tsundere goodness and comedy, giving me a promising comedy show to work with this season. Now to get my meaningless story summary out of the way.

Kept thinkin’ ” Welcome to the Ouran Host Club “. Tamaki’s voice doesn’t help.

” Complicated ” that’s one way to put it. The other is I fuckin’ kill a man with those things.

Mamoru Yoshimaru is a shy green-haired shota character who has just transfered to this super deluxe school to learn Beatrice, as he was saved as a child by a beatrice user. At the school he see’s a beautiful girl and mentions to her how great she looks. This girl ,Ayako Takasu, is the angel of death beatrice user who never smiles and can destroy satellites from earth. However she immediately turns a wonderful shade of red before Mamoru (*cough shotacon) and asks him out. This unprecedented action get’s Mamoru inducted into the student council where Ayako is. Only notable people are the president, voiced by Tamaki, his sister with shiho drill hair, and Mitsuki Fijita, a stalker photographer. There’s some stuff about a lot of break-ins in the school to steal an Astral Fire, but that seems to set up next episode. Mostly the whole thing is Mamoru and Ayako getting used to eachother and Ayako trying to get his answer to her confession while blushing a lot.

Moe: # 1 cause of traffic accidents.

Ayako is definately a ” megadere ” as she falls to pieces just seeing Mamoru. That’s very sweet in a romantic kind of way. Right now it just looks like the only romance we’ll be between Mamoru and Ayako, or so I hope as they just work well together. The scene where Ayako skated down a highway on a car door was just awesome. Shows why she’s the angel of death ; ) I like a lot of comedy scenes, especially Ayako’s stalker guy who, after seeing Ayako’s panties, nose-bled across an entire car window and wrecked it! I love exageration like that. I loved Ayako’s chaffeur Kitukawa. His constantly biting sarcasm and complaints was worthy of the great Kyon. Better see more of him. Only complaint right now is a lack of explanation of what Beatrice is. You don’t even know it’s some kind of magic till near the end. It’s confusing equating beatrice with magic, as whenever I hear it my book fanatic self keeps thinking of Dante’s would be idol. That’s just me of course. Megadere looks to get off on a strong start and will hopefully continue on for awhile, as it has 24 episodes to fill. This will be one the last things I pick up this season I think. I’ll write up a list soon of all I’m watching.
