So that’s what I need for my wrist now…

StrikerS can apparently be good when it wants to be

The reason I haven’t posted the last couple of days is my modem went and died on me, so I had to go get a new one and get it activated. A big hassle overall, just to let you know.

But anyways, on topic now. Oh god, Strikers 17 kicked all kind of ass. Let’s be frank; Strikers is basically crap, a training montage interrupted by brief periods of awesomeness. No, Nanoha doesn’t need constant fighting to be entertaining, but endless training and QUALITY animation don’t make a winner either. The only time Strikers is any good are those brief episodes of intense fighting, of which 17 has been the best. One reason why: Subaru.

Berserk Subaru was epic. The screaming, the rage, the self-destruction, the ass kicking; it was all so perfect. Only could of been better by Subaru actually ripping a Number in two, but this is Nanoha and people don’t die, just get befriended. Am I surprised Subaru is a cyborg? Perhaps, but it makes sense in the scheme of things. Yes it’s very “wtf?” but, again, this is strikers. Reason is kicked to the curb here. And Subaru is Gaogaigar-tan after all. I’ve been trying to figure out which scene berserk Subaru fits into Gaogaigar and I think Genesic vs. Palparepa works best, though GGG vs. EL-01 is also a good candidate. Judge for yourself:

The other cool elements of this episode were Erio kicking ass, before getting owned that is; and Caro summoning Behemoth-I mean, Voltaire. Most creative use of a french philosopher’s name ever? Vice was also pretty cool with his sniping skills and tragic backstory. And why didn’t Zafira transform? He could of kicked so much ass that way. Strikers tragically lacks human Zafira and Arf. And what’s with all the new bad guys? The Numbers are a cool idea, but they seem to just be thrown in. “We need more mage fights. How about robot cyborgs in a world of magic lol.” I still have no idea what Lutecia, Zest, or Agito want. At least Scaglietti has the crazy look down and Uno can play the organ. Can’t be evil without an organ.

The one nagging thing is this episode to me was, why the hell is it only section six fighting? This is the f*cking TSAB! It’s a dimension spanning army, and you can’t spare some people to protect your most important meeting that you have warnings of an attack on?! You trust everything to a bunch of kids (albiet they have hax powers)?! Strikers has taken the TSAB down from some insanely powerful dimensional government to a bureaucratic mess. Apparently magic makes your military incompetent. So, how many crappy filler episodes till the next awesome battle?
